20 x 2020 … Building the Momentum

20x2020Timothy F. Brick, Chairman of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, will convene a regional Water Summit entitled "20 x 2020…Building the Momentum" on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. The purpose of the event is to examine and discuss the extensive work underway throughout California to help ensure water supply reliability through the year 2020 – and, beyond.

The Summit will bring together a mix of water industry experts, regulators, municipal planners, representatives from the environmental community, climatologists and other stakeholders who are invested in California’s need to set in motion a range of activities designed to achieve the 20 percent per capita reduction in urban water demand by 2020.

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein has been invited to present the morning keynote address. Following that, there will be two panel discussions prior to lunch: “The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta: Resolving a Crisis” and “The Integrated Water Resources Plan: Roadmap for Water Supply Reliability through 2035.” Following a lunch break, a third panel will discuss “Water & Energy: The Critical Nexus.” Throughout the day, Chairman Brick will ask participants to join him in signing a 20 x 2020 pledge to reduce water use and help ensure a safe and reliable supply for generations to come.
