Metropolitan Board Approves Nation’s Largest Turf Removal And Water Conservation Program

In response to overwhelming public interest, the board of directors has added $350 million to the popular program, bringing the total budget to $450 million. The expanded program includes the removal of about 175 million square feet of lawn. The overall conservation program translates into a water savings of more than 70 million gallons a day which over 10 years is enough to fill Diamond Valley Lake, Southern California's largest reservoir.
