Professional and community activities:

Brown, a registered geologist and a certified engineering geologist in California, is a member of the American Water Works Association, American Water Resources Association, Groundwater Resources Association and the Association of Engineering Geologists.

Mr. Brown's professional training began with the California Department of Water Resources where he worked on dam, tunnel and groundwater investigations. In 1958, he was placed on loan to the State Water Rights Board, where he served as senior geologist on the water rights litigation over the San Fernando Valley. In 1963, he entered private practice. He has worked in 7 of the 50 states and in 12 foreign countries. His overseas work included clients such as the United Nations, Food and Agriculture Organization and Agency for International Development.

Community Services

In 1968, he was appointed to the newly created Board of Registration for Geologists by Governor Reagan for a 2-year term. Subsequently, he served on the Board's Professional Affairs Committee/Technical Assistance Committee for over 20 years. He also served on the Engineering Geologists Qualifications Board for the City of Los Angeles and for the County of Orange. He is currently the neutral member of the three-man court appointed Watermaster Team for the San Gabriel River.
