Water industry affiliations:

Edwards is a member and past president of the Foothill Municipal Water District board of directors since 1993. He also served as executive board member of the Association of California Water Agencies' Joint Powers Insurance Authority (1994-2004) and on the board of directors at Valley Water since 2001.

Professional and community activities:

Edwards is a chief executive officer of BT Insurance Brokers, Inc., an independent insurance brokerage firm specializing in transportation risk. He served on the La Canada Flintridge City Council (1990-1999), including two terms as mayor in 1993 and 1998, and was a member of the city's Public Safety Commission for four years.

A reserve Los Angeles County deputy sheriff, Edwards has been a member of the sheriff's Montrose Search and Rescue Team since 1974 and is a CPR/first aid instructor for the American Red Cross. He has been a member of the Community Prevention Council of La Canada Flintridge. He has served on two Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts for nine years.

A U.S. Army veteran, Edwards served as a Green Beret in the Army's Airborne Special Forces, with a tour of duty in Vietnam. He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Special Forces Decade Associations. Edwards holds a bachelors degree in communications and history from California State University, Long Beach.
