Water industry affiliations:
Lopez has represented Western on several agencies, including the Santa Ana Water Shed Project Authority (SAWPA), Chino Basin Watermaster and West Riverside County Regional Water Authority.  He serves as Western’s representative at ACWA Joint Powers Insurance Authority and Utility Service Agency.  Presently, he serves as the special districts alternate on Riverside County-LAFCO.

Professional and community activities:
Lopez is the owner of SR Consulting, specializing in public relations and government affairs.  He served on the Corona City Council from 1982 to 1994, including terms as mayor in 1986 and 1990.  He also has served on the Riverside Transit Agency board, Riverside County Transportation Commission and the Air Quality Management District Advisory Group.

In February 2005, Lopez was recognized by the U.S. Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Corona) with a congressional record tribute for community service.
