Professional and community activities:

Rez served five years as Glendale city manager, retiring in 1988. Prior to that, he served as assistant city manager and as the city's personnel director. Rez was a member of the Glendale mayor's 2020 Committee, a task force charged with determining what issues Glendale should address before the year 2020.

A former member of the International City Management Association and past director of the Glendale Gateway Kiwanis Club, Rez served on the Verdugo Mental Health Center board of directors and has served on the Visiting Nurse board of directors and the Glendale Unified School District personnel commission.

In his retirement he serves several hours a week as a volunteer at the hospital of the City of Hope.
