Southern California’s Water: Past, Present and Future

Grades 4 - 12.

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California in partnership with El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument offer a unique field trip opportunity to the teachers and students (grades 4-12) of Southern California.

The field trip includes the following opportunities:

  • First water system—Zanja Madre—
    To better understand water delivery systems of the past.

  • Oldest building in Los Angeles—Avila Adobe—
    To comprehend how people in the 1800’s dealt with water.

  • MWD’s Source, Treatment and Distribution model—
    To understand current water delivery systems.

  • Map detailing how water comes to Southern California

  • Comprehensive questions to reinforce learning
