The Community Partnering Program may sponsor water-related, educational outreach programs (e.g., community forums, workshops and water festivals, curriculum development for grades K-12, exhibits, promotional material, signage for native plant garden projects) or similar activities.

NEW:
Funding of any combined sponsorship, i.e., community partnering program, special activities and/or events, will be awarded for only two consecutive (fiscal) years per organization, followed by a one-year hiatus. After the hiatus, an applicant may apply for funding of an entirely new or different program. Funding will not be awarded for previously funded programs.

The Community Partnering Program may not provide full funding to any sponsorship.  Applicants are encouraged to seek additional sponsors.  A new application will not be considered, if a previously funded program has not been completed.
PLEASE NOTE: If a program or project is approved, funds will be distributed only to the name of the organization that applied. The organization's name and address on the application and the W-9 form must match, otherwise the sponsorship request will be declined.

The Community Partnering Program does not fund expenses for:

  •  Requests for labor expenses only
  •  Equipment (purchased or rented)
  •  Meals or refreshments
  •  Travel/transportation
  •  Office space
  •  Computer/laboratory or audio visual equipment
  •  Scholarships, internships, stipends, and/or teacher release time
  •  Legal, lobbying or consulting fees.

Reimbursement for labor is limited. Other items not covered are native plants, soil/mulch, any type of hardware, such as irrigation systems, construction costs for tearing down old equipment, exhibits or similar renovation projects.

No substitutions: Awarded funds may ONLY be used for the event/activity described in the application. If the program is cancelled or substantially modified, funds MUST be returned to MWD, but a new application may be submitted for the next application deadline. The manager of the Community Partnering Program, Christel Webb, (213-217-6633) must be contacted in these circumstances.

Programs will not be funded retroactively. If the event date precedes the application, the funding request will be declined.
