Professional and community activities:
Michael Hogan has been Santa Fe Irrigation District's representative on the San Diego County Water Authority's Board of Directors since 2006. He has served as SDCWA’s board chairman and secretary and as the district’s representative on the Colorado River Board of California.
Hogan retired in 2009 after a 40-year career in the wastewater industry. He served as general manager of the Encina Wastewater Authority from 1998 to 2009.
Hogan has been an active member of the California Water Environment Association for more than 35 years, including as statewide president. He has served as director and executive committee member for the Water Environment Federation and director for the Southern California Alliance of Publicly Owned Treatment Works. Hogan also has been involved in California's Water Quality Control Institute, San Elijo Joint Powers Authority Citizen Advisory Committee on water reclamation and the San Diego Clean Water Program.
A certified wastewater treatment plant operator, he earned a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Phoenix and an associate's degree in wastewater technology from Palomar College.
