Powering A Cleaner Fleet__

In 2024, Metropolitan expanded its zero-emission vehicle fleet, adding eight more ZEVs for a total of 20. We’re moving toward our goal of a fully zero-emission fleet by 2027 and continue to prioritize vehicles for replacement and develop strategies to guide the transition. To support our growing fleet, we’ve installed 16 new chargers and are planning infrastructure upgrades across key facilities.  

Greener Data, Cleaner Future___

In 2024 we relocated our information technology data center to a vendor-operated, off-site location that uses 100% renewable energy, as well as a closed-loop water recycling system that doubles the return of used cooling water to local resources. Multiple tenants use the same vendor’s off-site facility, which maximizes economies of scale to reduce greenhouse gases.

 

 

Sustainable Infrastructure Envision® Training___

As of March 2025, Metropolitan has 149 members of the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure and 62 active Envision® certified professionals. Metropolitan has four projects that are currently going through Envision verification, as part of the Envision certification process.  

 

Expanding Southern California’s Tree Canopy___

We have been changing the face of Southern California by incentivizing residents and businesses to ditch their thirsty lawns in favor of stunning, sustainable California Friendly™ and native plants.

In 2024, we took that effort a step further by offering a $100 rebate for every tree added to a Turf Replacement Project, for a maximum of five. More trees mean cooler neighborhoods, cleaner air, healthier watersheds, and greener, more beautiful communities.
